Discipleship
This week it seems as though everything I pick up to read has to do with discipleship. This has been leading me to some very interesting conversations with people who may or may not be ready to be confronted with their own level of participation in the leading of the people around them.
Interesting quote I ran across regarding how we approach the people we disciple; “We are all money-less, hungry beggars who have been invited to eat at God’s banqueting table.” I find this interesting because when we think of a disciple relationship we can think to highly of ourselves as though we have something so much better than the people we are discipling. This is where we must remember that if not for grace we would have nothing to offer our fellow man in the way of hope and love.
We are all called to disciple people around us and to take the teachings of Jesus to all the people around us. The question I keep asking the people around me is this; would the people you work with or the people you spend the most time with be surprised at finding out you are a Christian. If so you miss the greatest form of evangelism in your circle of influence; presence evangelism is living out your faith in a manner that all who interact with you know that God’s light is in you.
